Reply:If it is a sunny spot and you aren't in the south, plant some cosmos. The southeast US is way too hot right now to plant seeds, May would have been better. Geraniums are a nice annual plant too for a sunny area. If you want a perennial, try daylillies, they come in a variety of colors, are heat %26amp; sun tolerant once established and they bloom all summer. If it is a shady area most of the perenial flowers for shade don't have a long blooming time so annuals are better for color, like impatients. Or in a shaded area or part sun/part shade try a "Encore Azalea" which blooms once in the spring, once in the summer, and again in the fall and provides some greenery when it isn't in bloom.
Reply:For a lot of color look to annuals, but you need to replant every year.
For not as much color, but you don't have to replant every year go with a perrennial. Most of these will bloom a particular time of year. Some early spring (cherry tree varieties, dafadylls)some mid spring (azalias, clematis) some late spring (day lilly)some early summer etc.. roses, with proper care, will bloom spring through fall. It's difficult to achieve proper care.
Reply:I have the following
butterfly bush (lavender)
lily of the nile
Stella d'oro day lily
Gladiolas by the dozens and love those colors, lavendar, yellow, pinks, whites just every color
margarites
yellow marigold to tame the aphid beasts
border of lambs ear for subtle grey green
deep blue violet colored clumps of flowers which I don't have a clue what they are called but really stand out
a rose or two
Reply:It really depends what zone you are in as to what your best choices are. Go to your local nursery and tell them what you are looking for. They can tell you what zone you are in and give you an idea what plants do well in your area for a start. Then you can decide what your preferences are.
Reply:Depending on what side of the street you are on, and where you are zoned for, the most common types for colour punches would be geraniums, begonias, floxes, alyssum. petunias and pansies..Salvias,delphiniums and fox gloves...
Reply:What i would do is put Gerbera Daisies or Joseph's coat. They are really colorful. I think they would brighten any garden
