Sparrows eat all my cucumber flowers and small cucumbers.Help! They are destroing my garden .?

Every year I plant cucumbers and I never had this problem before.Gangs of sparrows attack and destroy every cucumber flower and cucumber that follows the flower.I build a ridiculous scarecrow and tied some plastic bags around the plants.

IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! HELP!!

I had the same problem this year. I ended up making a cage for my cukes out of poultry wire. Now the bees can still get in to pollinate the blossoms but the birds can't reach the plants.
Reply:I like the owl idea; or you could buy some whirlygigs that have moving parts and stake them in your garden.
Reply:try an owl decoy just rem to move it around at nite to diff spot if you leave it in the same spot they might realize its a fake
Reply:Go to your local home and garden store and buy a garden/tree net. These are special nets that allow small insects like bees through, but trap birds and small rodents like chipmunks. They are very effective and quite safe. Just drape the net over your cukes during the fruiting season.
